Experience

Vasile Nemeș is the firm’s coordinating lawyer.

He has unparalleled experience in banking and finance, acting for corporations, banks and non-bank financial institutions on a broad range of lending, investment and credit instrument matters.

He also has extensive experience in arbitration, with a special focus on banking and finance, insurance and privatisations, advising and representing clients before Romanian and international courts of arbitration under the rules of the ICC Paris, the Court of International Commercial Arbitration in Romania and others.

He advises numerous insurance companies on all aspects of their business, from incorporation and licensing to management, mergers and dissolution.

He is a member of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania. He speaks fluent English and French.

He is a regular speaker and writer on corporate law, banking, insurance and other legal matters.

He is the author of several books on insurance, banking, commercial law and insolvency: “Dreptul Asigurărilor” (Insurance Law), “Drept Comercial” (Commercial Law), “Contracte. Legislație, jurisprudență, modele adnotate” (Contracts: legislation, case law, annotated templates), “Contracte civile și comerciale” (Civil and Commercial Contracts) and “Drept Bancar” (Banking Law), and co-author of “Codul Insolvenței comentat” (The Insolvency Code, Annotated), “Tratat practic de insolvență” (Practical Treatise on Insolvency) and “Dreptul contractelor civile și comerciale în reglementarea noului cod civil” (Civil and Commercial Contracts under the New Civil Code), among others.

Education and titles

A member of the Bucharest Bar and of the Romanian Bar Association, Vasile Nemeș completed his legal education at “Nicolae Titulescu” University of Bucharest.

He is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law of “Nicolae Titulescu” University, Bucharest, teaching Banking Law, Insurance Law and Commercial Law, and Deputy Director of the university’s Private Law Department. He lectures at the National Institute for the Training and Further Development of Lawyers (INPPA), trains at the Romanian Notary Institute (INR), sits as an arbitrator in the Arbitration Corps of the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA) and as a conciliator at the Alternative Dispute Resolution Centre in the Banking Field (CSALB).
